But honestly either I am chill or really, the little I hear from him doesn’t really bother me. My upstairs neighbor regularly thanks me for being chill and apologizes for any and all noise he makes. I also don’t live in a luxury building, but it’s older and I never hear shit from anyone. We ended up moving and now use them to cope with construction surrounding us! We got three LectroFans and put them in the home office, bedroom, and living room. What helped to some extent were quality white noise machines. We even offered to buy them rugs to help muffle the sound but they refused saying they hate carpet and rugs. No one else ever took showers that were abnormally long but their son would take two hour showers every day and the pipes would roar. We went from only occasionally hearing the dogs the previous neighbors had when they were really excited to hearing every single conversation, every cough, and then the son's violent outbursts at 1 in the morning as well as him staying up playing video games until daylight. a couple and their adult son who is schizophrenic moved in and ripped out the carpet and self-installed those fake hardwood floors. This is so relatable to what we dealt with in our last place. Unfortunately it seems like luck of draw until your in a unit but I believe you get what you pay for and sometimes leasing agents are honest if you ask about noise, if you can tell they are trustworthy… (also I like Yelp reviews, but with caution, most people only go to complain about apartments and rarely go to write positive - since it’s not food) Also, have to think of trade offs too, is no noise better then amenities/locations/etc. I think some flags is to be mindful what kind of background checks they do, if they seem little to none then think of the type of crowd that passes through that. Hollywood Ardmore - ah, I adored this building, was on 11th floor, Hollywood sign view + general wide views where I could see to capitol building, downtown and all the way to Long Beach if you squint, unobstructed…but I could technically hear my neighbor next me (but was worth it!!) I still dream of this unitġ724 Highland (Redwood Urban) - I really like it here $2400 1 bedroom but everyone is mature here, and they really maintain the property and people here, highly recommend PLUS i could tell that the manager was selective for applications (very long paperwork and serious background checks) which I like Like roaches, LA Redditors are everywhere.
